The Entrepreneur’s Tale : Design
‘We’re stuck for growth.’
After years of good growth, expansion was slowing, the infrastructure was in place but the funds to manage it all just kept getting tighter.
They were stalling on turnover at around £2million, or growing fast in unstainable bursts, falling down on cash and profitability.
The owner knew what success would feel like but not how he might achieve it.
He felt hemmed in by constant problems – people, money, sales, delivery and lacking the time, space and support to step away and work on the business not in it.
He complained ‘Most days I feel like I’ve just done 5 rounds with Mike Tyson’.
We worked together with him and his leadership team to review, reset and reprioritise existing ideas and strategy, identify the gaps that became apparent and generating solutions to fix them.
Outcome:
Renewed energy, motivation and focus in the business. New roles and responsibilities assigned in line with objectives leaving the owner free for groundbreaking business development in new foreign markets and new sectors.
‘I felt we were sort of British Midland. I wanted us to be a LearJet. Now we are getting there.’
