INSPIRING GROWTH  : the ‘SEON GROWTH’ system

The ‘Seon Growth’ system is designed to guide and sustain your best thinking getting you from where you are today, to where you want to be.

There are 3 steps in the system. Each ‘packaged’ up to allow you to take the steps you need as you need to.

You can take them individually, paying for each step as you go; or group them together as a complete programme.

STEP 1 : INSPIRATION 30

Create momentum and an energy for change

Identify and scope what holds you back and what propels you forward

Discover why growth is slower or harder than you expect or hope for

Identify and uncover hidden opportunity and new potential

This step is

  • Fast paced

  • Collaborative

  • Engaging

This is delivered across 1 month from start to finish. It involves the people you nominate but only asks for 3-4 days of their working time during this period.

the ultimate goal : ‘Ideas That Stick’

If you only have limited time and capacity to find and develop new ideas for growth, then you had better make them count.

  • You need a way to generate and evaluate ideas quickly and easily

  • Ideas should feel natural and authentic not ‘imposed’ from outside

  • You want them to be achievable but you still be stretched and challenged in your thinking

You can get it all, by tapping into your creative thinking capability.
It is just sitting there, waiting to be ignited.

It finds what I call ‘ideas that stick’

By using your own thinking and expertise, but in different and instinctive ways the ideas you find will feel authentic and original.
That’s sticky.

By framing your plans against tangible customer results the ideas you find will be focused on the market’s needs.
That’s sticky too.

Sticky is good. It is the key ingredient for competitive advantage.

10 Reasons to Choose the SEON Approach

More about the SEON growth approach

Getting Ideas

Finding transformative ideas and pursuing them while you are also trying to run or lead your business is hard.

You need to focus on the here and now. You need your teams to commit and deliver.

But you also need to think in ways that are not constrained by today.

You need to find new thinking.

A brainstorm will not cut it. (We’ve all been there; standing at the front of a room – marker pen in hand - waiting for someone to say something useful, pleading for participation, trying to stop disagreements about what may or may not work, and leaving it all on flip chart paper to be forgotten about as soon as we get home.)

To get the best ideas out – even before you decide if they are good ideas or not.

You have to contextualise purpose – this is not just blue sky for the sake of it

You have to ‘stir things up a bit without rocking the boat’.

You have to turn off judgement

You have to encourage and value every contribution

You have to level the playing field so the most senior, most experienced or most powerful voices do not dominate

You have to give it time, but not so much that you loose focus and not so little that you lose momentum

You have to give people permission to think out loud and in loose ways

In short you have to act completely differently from your normal leadership role.  That’s what SEON GROWTH takes on for you. So you can get the best from your teams and still keep your business on track here and now.

Evaluating Ideas

Too often people kill ideas before they have been properly evaluated.

This stage does not require a lot of hard work. It requires an open mind, clear prioritisation and focused investigation.

It requires rational and detached thinking; but the trap here is that your thinking will already be shaped and formed by your existing experience and expectations. Some people might refer to this as ‘prejudices’.

They work in insidious and often unconscious ways to talk you out of potentially great ideas that you are nervous of (possibly only because they are so new) and clinging to ideas that feel safer, achievable or comfortable; none of which will really move the needle for you.

Or it’s at this point that either consensus or senior opinion completely override all other forces to take a decision forward. Another trap and a sure fire way to leave too much potential behind. Both forces (incidentally) will work to keep you in your comfort zone – for different reasons. Not where you want or need to be.

I structure and support you through this process to avoid these pitfalls and be able to see decisions for what they are; take them with clarity and confidence and share and pursue them with enthusiasm and focus.

Sustaining Ideas

An idea remains just an idea until you act upon it and bring it to life in your market. Then it’s an innovation.

Lots of businesses underestimate the effort and focus needed over time to do this.

They turn away from their ideas too quickly, set expectations too high, abandoning new when the outcomes they hoped for do not instantly appear.

They find themselves back at square one.

Take a leaf out of history and accept that Rome was not built in a day.

The answer is to combine consistency with managing expectations.

See the small wins and focus on the gain achieved not the gap remaining.

Set the right KPIs upfront and if necessary ‘go micro’. Not always easy when you have been a business used to operating at and pushing for scale.

If you can build this approach into your growth plans from the beginning you create a much higher chance of success. The secret is a great monitoring and review process.

I help with this too from start and on throughout your growth trajectory.
