Who?
My name is Simon Bird and I started SEON in 2019 with the express intention of using creativity and creative thinking to make it easier for owners and leaders in furniture, furnishings and interior design markets to find and sustain growth.
WHY?
Growth is never easy. But we can make it less painful.
Why leave our creative brains to only tackle issues of design and making? We should also apply them to growth. By successfully combining and encouraging instinct and imagination, as well as objective, disciplined thinking, we can ignite and sustain growth.
These can overcome the tendency that I see, as an onlooker/ consumer, for ‘sameness’ in this sector but also promote the talent for design, making and innovation that often struggles to recognise its own uniqueness and meet its full potential.
I want more people to be aware of and buy great design, excellent products and outstanding services. Such things just make our homes and our lives better, and that sounds like a growth opportunity to me.
MY APPROACH
Is based on over 30 years of leading sales and marketing in international premium branded businesses. From my first corporate job, selling paper to designers in France, to my last, as global executive director of marketing and EC in the furniture industry I have been asked, irrespective of market conditions, to deliver profitable organic growth.
Finding and sustaining it has been my constant challenge.
It forced me to constantly innovative and where necessary drive transformative change, not just to stay with the game, but preferably to get, and stay ahead of it.
Over time I have found relying on my creative instincts helped me but this has been complemented by experience, collaboration, what I’ve learned through my MBA in Creativity, Innovation & Change, and even through my own practice as an abstract artist.
It has all been distilled into what I do today, and who I do it for.
